Country Kids – Pick your own – Old Yarr Farm

I’m linking up with Country Kids again because I found some great new reads last time and, well, because Fiona asked me! She’s really passionate about getting outdoors with your kids and enjoying some good old family fun. It’s always fun to see what other people are up to so you can copy them and your kids will think you’re really fun and have the best ideasย so you can be inspired.

My folks and I took the smalls to Old Yarr Estatesย in Astwood Bank, which is minutes away from where I grew up. I’d never been before but the lure of “Pick Your Own” strawberries got me there and when I spied the tearoom, it was love at first sight. I had one of the best Eggs Benedict there EVER, and I’m a girl who knows her Eggs Benedict. We will definitely going back there…and soon!

I was telling the little dude that when I was little, we used to pick our own strawberries sometimes and that you could only get them in summer. That’s right, young people! Once upon a time they were a seasonal fruit. I don’t think he believed me, along with the “We didn’t have iPads or a telly with a remote”. I had proof though!

Summer ’84. Got to love the knitwear and polyester combo that I’m rocking there

..And I recreated the same scene (more or less!) 29 years later…I even tried to make it look a bit vinatgey for you. You’re welcome.

Are those some impressive cloning skills or what? (the kid, that is. Not the animals.)

I’ve seen what you’re up to, dude…
