When I applied for my insurance (that’s right folks, I’m a proper kosher photographer y’know), I opted for £1 million worth of public liability. What possible situation could I find myself in that would require me to be insured for more than that?

This

sport relief-004This is Damini, aka an actual real life elephant. We got to meet her yesterday thanks to the folks at Woburn Safari Park and she was an honorary team member, passing the Team Honk Relay baton from Sandy to Gemma & myself. I know this is probably stating the obvious but she was so big! Like, I know that elephants *are* big but seeing her up close kind of took my breath away, she was amazing. We stroked her and she was really hairy, I wasn’t expecting that at all. I was on cloud 9 all day, it was just such a surreal thing to do.

After our elephant encounter, it was time for our leg of the relay. Gemma and I planned to run with our friend Caroline and Sunshine riding alongside us on a unicorn (that’s right, a unicorn, not a dressed up horse…). Like most plans involving kids and animals, that didn’t happen. We ran with Rusty the unicorn, or rather Gemma ran – I took photos and almost cried with fear when Gemma handed me the reins for all of 10 seconds. I’m *really* scared of horses! Safe to say a career as an equestrian photographer isn’t going to happen any time soon… We handed the baton over to Mary ready for tomorrow’s leg of the relay in Hemel and spent the rest of the day texting each other about how cold we were (seriously, SO SO cold).

sport relief-011sport relief-012sport relief-014You can still donate (and please, please do!) over on the MK Sport Relief page. I know some of you text donations while we were freezing our bums off and we’re really grateful to you. So many people benefit from these donations, even if it’s just £1.

Thank you x

On Monday morning a group of local bloggers and myself will be talking part in the Team Honk Relay. Team Honk was set up by 3 fantastic bloggers (Annie, Tanya & Penny) to blog and tweet about last year’s Comic Relief. They ended up raising almost £10,000 by chopping all their hair off (Annie),climbing Snowdon, bike riding (Tanya), cake sales and lots lots more. And this year Team Honk is back! In the name of Sport Relief, around 200 bloggers are going to swim, run, walk and scooter to pass a baton person to person all the way from Land’s End to John O’Groats. As soon as I read about it, I wanted to take part and before I knew it, we were making plans to include a Woburn Safari Park elephant…(yes, really). The Milton Keynes team is made up of myself, Gemma, Sandy, Claire and Missy B. (and I need to say a huge thank you to my amazing friend Caroline who is lending us her “unicorn” for mine and Gemma’s part of the relay).
